Sam Van Dyne is the star quarterback for the top-ranked Class 6 team in Missouri and the highest-ranked team in the Kansas City metro area.

So, it only makes sense that local teams are following the Class of 2023 signal-caller’s progress. And one of those local teams extended a scholarship offer to Van Dyne on Monday.

Van Dyne, who is 6-foot-3 and 205 pounds, shared news on social media that the Missouri Tigers had officially extended an offer.

It’s an offer that has been in the works for quite some time. Van Dyne was on campus three times this summer, including for two workouts for the Tiger coaches.

Those workouts – combined with an impressive start to his junior season – were enough for the Tigers to formally extend an offer to the local star.

Van Dyne has led Liberty North to a 6-1 record this season with 1,170 yards passing and 12 touchdowns. He’s completing 72% of his passes and has only two interceptions on the season.

Van Dyne has also come up in big games this season for the Eagles. Playing one of the most difficult schedules in the Midlands Region, he’s put on shows every week out. He’s done it again quality opponents like Bentonville, Ark., Lee’s Summit North and Raymore-Peculiar.

“Sam has really developed as a quarterback,” Liberty North coach Greg Jones said recently about Sam Van Dyne. “He’s a dadgum good one.”

MU offer won’t be last offer for Sam Van Dyne

Along with the heavy local interest, Sam Van Dyne attended camp at Louisville this summer. He has also received interest from Iowa State, Alabama and other local programs.

At the 6-Star Football Combine this past December, Van Dyne clocked 40-yard dash times of 4.81 seconds and 4.87 seconds. He measured in at 6-3 and 197.8 pounds. He also had shuttle times of 4.16 and 4.19.

All of those measurables, along with quality film and strong play as a junior, mean Van Dyne’s stock is about to take off with recruiters.
