Monroe (La.) Neville four-star running back Ajay Allen Jr. has flipped, leaving TCU to sign with Nebraska on National Signing Day.

The flip is a huge pickup for Scott Frost and the Cornhuskers as Allen’s becomes the team’s second-highest rated commit of the cycle.

Nebraska running backs coach Bryan Applewhite, who was hired in January, was the primary recruiter of Allen for the Horned Frogs.

He is the No. 338 overall recruit in the 2022 class, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

On3 rates Allen much higher. He slots in at No. 108 in the 2022 On300 ranking. That makes him On3’s fifth-best running back in the class behind Reading (Pa.) Governor Mifflin five-star running back Nick Singleton, Lake Charles (La.) Lake Charles College Prep four-star running back TreVonte’ Citizen, Tyler (Texas) Tyler Legacy four-star running back Jamarion Miller and King William (Va.) four-star running back Demond Claiborne.

Allen has an On3 NIL Valuation of $16,100. The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.

Ajay Allen Jr. joins a Nebraska recruiting class in need of some juice

The Cornhuskers entered National Signing Day with the No. 49 overall recruiting class in the On3 Consensus Team Recruiting Ranking.

Ajay Allen Jr joins Oradell (N.J.) Bergen Catholic four-star safety Jaeden Gould as the only other four-star recruit in Nebraska recruiting class.

The Cornhuskers do have one other running back commit in the high school class in Minneapolis Academy Of Holy Angels three-star running back Emmett Johnson. He is the No. 1079 overall recruit in the 2022 On3 Consensus.

Nebraska also signed former Florida State running back Anthony Grant out of the New Mexico Military Institute and nabbed former Texas A&M running back Deondre Jackson in the transfer portal.
