Roswell (Ga.) cornerback Ethan Nation’s connection to Nebraska developed quickly. Nation announced his pledge to the Cornhuskers at Tuesday’s Under Armour All-American Game in Orlando.

Nebraska offered Nation on Dec. 16, by Dec. 17 he was on an official visit to Lincoln. Nation signed with the Cornhuskers on national signing day on Dec. 21.

Nebraska surprised Nation. Nation immediately felt at home. He went on a lot of visits over the last few years. Nation held nearly 50 offers from programs around the country. After all that, Nebraska felt natural to him.

Coincidently, he went in not knowing what to expect.

“They really wanted me, they showed me that they wanted me,” Nation told On3. “They got me out there really fast. When I was there, they showed me nothing but love. It felt like home. It was kind of weird going up. I wasn’t expecting much. When I got there and saw Lincoln and everything around it, I was pleasantly surprised. I’m excited about it.”

Nation has also been embraced by the Nebraska fan base. The fan base was another major selling factor for Nation. After he announced the offer and that he was taking an official visit, the Cornhusker fan base flocked to show Nation support.

“That’s what I’m excited for,” Nation said. “Playing in front of sold-out crowds, 93,000. That played a major part. I love the fans. They’re the most interactions that I’ve had on any of my tweets. The fans want me bad, so I’m excited to announce that I’m coming to Lincoln.”

New head coach Matt Rhule was also one of the final winning points for Nation.

“He’s really professional and a really great guy,” Nation said. “He makes sure that you’re taken care of off the field. If you need anything, he and the coaching staff are going to be there.”

Ethan Nation has high expectations at Nebraska

Nation hopes to make an early impact.

“My I’m coming to try and start,” Nation said. “The expectation is to win. We’re going to bring that winning culture back and we’re going to take it a day at a time.”
