Nebraska is coming off its first road win since the 2020 season. In both games, Nebraska beat Rutgers. Now, the Cornhuskers are looking to keep the momentum going and push their winning streak to three games when they travel to play at Purdue. The first two of those wins have come under interim head coach Mickey Joseph.

Mickey Joseph is expecting a better crowd at Purdue than Nebraska saw at Rutgers. In fact, he took a shot at the Rutgers crowd being called a sellout by the school.

“I think the boys did a great job at Rutgers with the so-called sellout crowd,” Mickey Joseph said.

“It wasn’t a sellout. Let’s be real about it.”

A former Nebraska quarterback and now the current interim head coach, Mickey Joseph should know what a sellout looks like. Indiana represented the 386th straight sellout for Nebraska. However, the streak was thought to be in jeopardy. That’s before a booster bought $21,000 worth of tickets to keep on track for the rest of the season, according to Eric Olson of the Associated Press.

If Nebraska does beat Purdue, the Cornhuskers would move to 3-1 in the Big Ten, and all of a sudden, winning the West wouldn’t be out of the realm of possibilities. It will also put the Cornhuskers above .500 overall. It would also be the first time Nebraska was better than .500 in October since 2019.

Mickey Joseph has most of the season to try out for the head coaching position at Nebraska. If he can turn things around and prove that he’s the guy to rebuild Nebraska, he should get the job. However, Joseph says the program deserves a national coaching search.

“Well, we always talk about blocking out the noise. So we’re not going to worry about who the search firm is talking to. Because, like I said before, Nebraska deserves to have a national search,” Mickey Joseph said.

“Our interview right now is in the next eight games. That’s your interview. So, we can’t do anything about that. We also talked to them; control what you can control.”
