Miami (Fla.) Christopher Columbus High School three-star linebacker Willis McGahee IV announced that he has committed to Nebraska.

The 6-foot-2, 215-pounder is the No. 413 overall prospect and No. 43 linebacker in the 2024 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 59 player in Florida.

McGahee IV is back on campus today for the Cornhuskers’ spring game. It’s his second trip to Nebraska as he visited last on March 20.

“From the minute I got to the facility at 5:30 a.m., all the coaches were showing me love,” McGahee IV told On3 following the March visit. “They all came over and talked with me until practice started and were asking me all the regular questions. They thought I would be tired waking up that early, but I told them that I have workouts or practice every morning at Columbus at 5:55am, so I’m used to it.

“I liked how Coach Rhule addressed the team before practice started. He told them he knows practice won’t be perfect and that we welcome mistakes. That would’ve taken the edge off for me if that was my first practice. I was impressed with how the coaches were coaching. It’s the type of coaching style I prefer.”

McGahee IV currently has an On3 NIL Valuation of $28K. The On3 NIL Valuation is the industry’s leading index that sets high school and college athletes’ projected annual value (PAV). The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.

Rhule coming close to a top-20 class

Nebraska coach Matt Rhule has had a solid start to his first full cycle with the Cornhuskers as they’re on pace to surpass where the 2023 class finished in the final rankings.

With the commitment from McGahee IV, Nebraska now has four commitments in its 2024 class. That class ranks as the No. 25 class in the country and the No. 7 class in the Big Ten.

Nebraska’s other 2024 commitments include four-star safety Roger Gradney, three-star interior offensive lineman Gibson Pyle and three-star defensive lineman Ashton Murphy.

The Cornhuskers wrapped up the 2023 recruiting cycle signing 28 players. That class finished as No. 28 class in the country and No. 5 in the Big Ten.
