Olney (Md.) Good Counsel four-star EDGE Dylan Gooden will be visiting North Carolina this weekend for the Tar Heels’ game against Georgia Tech. It will mark his first trip to see the Tar Heels.

Gooden is the No. 292 overall prospect and No. 34 EDGE in the 2023 cycle, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 7 player in Maryland.

The 6-foot-4.5, 200-pound pass rusher has received 20 offers. According to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine, Rutgers holds a close lead for his commitment at 30.8%.

RPM was released to the public in December. The On3 engineering group teamed up with Spiny.ai to create the industry’s first algorithm and machine learning-based product to predict where athletes will attend college.

It factors in machine learning, social sentiment, visits and historical trends. However, expert predictions are still a big piece of the RPM equation.

Gooden originally planned to commit on Aug. 9. His finalists then were MarylandPenn State, Rutgers and Virginia Tech

Regarding North Carolina, the Tar Heels’ 2023 recruiting class is No. 27 in the 2023 On3 Consensus Team Recruiting Rankings and No. 5 in the ACC. The group is led by Durham (N.C.) Southern four-star EDGE Jaybron Harvey, the No. 206 overall prospect in the On3 Consensus.

Gooden has an On3 NIL Valuation of $16.8K. The On3 NIL Valuation is an index that looks to set the standard market value for both high school and college-level athletes. The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.
