North Carolina currently has the No. 1 recruiting class in the 2024 On3 Team Rankings. Elliot Cadeau is the point guard of the group. The 6-foot-1, 2024 On3 Consensus five-star committed to Hubert Davis’ Tar Heels in late December over offers from Texas Tech, Texas, Syracuse, Kansas, and more.

Since Cadeau, four-star center James Brown and five-star guard Ian Jackson have also come on board. We have not spoken to Cadeau since those new commitments, so wanted to catch up with the five-star to get his thoughts on the class and the Tar Heels.

Here is my conversation with Elliot Cadeau.

Elliot Cadeau

What can UNC fans expect from you as a player?

Cadeau: “They can expect a very unselfish player, a player that will do anything to win and places winning as their top priority.”

What is the next step in your development?

Cadeau: “I think the next step is continuing to work on my decision-making. There are times when I need to be more aggressive in scoring and times when I stay aggressive with my passing. Keep developing when to score at the right moments and when to pass at the right moments.”

What was UNC’s recruiting pitch to you throughout the process?

Cadeau: “That I was a priority for them. Their head coach, Coach (Hubert) Davis, called me every week, and they showed me I was a huge priority.”

What is your scouting report for UNC’s 2024 class?

“We really got all the pieces we need; with Ian (Jackson) committing recently, he was another perfect piece.”

James Brown: “He’s really tough; he can finish with both hands, and he is a team player.”

Ian Jackson: “He can do everything, score, pass, and he’s really athletic.”

“I haven’t really seen Drake (Powell) play.”

What do you expect your role to be as a freshman?

Cadeau: “I’m expecting to go in there as a starter, affect the team immediately, and help the team win.”

What are you most excited about, stepping foot on campus?

Cadeau: “I’m excited to be going to college, all of it, really. I’m spending two years out here at Link Academy in Missouri, so I’m ready to go to a city like Chapel Hill, have fun, and do the thing I love.”

Do you have a message for UNC fans?

Cadeau: “I’m excited to be a part of the family.”
