Northwestern has extended an offer to Frisco (Texas) Lone Star four-star cornerback Jaylon Braxton.

Braxton announced the offer on his social media accounts Sunday afternoon.

He is the No. 275 overall player in the 2023 cycle, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

On3 rates him much higher as the No. 155 prospect in the 2023 On300 ranking. That makes Braxton the 18th-best cornerback in the class and 25th-best player from the state of Texas.

The Wildcats signed Jaylon Braxton’s Frisco Lone Star teammate Devin Turner in the 2022 cycle. Turner is the No. 1044 prospect in the 2022 On3 Consensus. On3 ranks him as the 62nd-best safety in the recruiting cycle.

Northwestern has the No. 49 recruiting class in the 2022 On3 Consensus Team Recruiting Ranking. Naperville (Ill.) Naperville Central four-star wide receiver Reggie Fleurima and Towson (Md.) Loyola Blakefield four-star EDGE Anto Saka are the two top prospects in the class.

They only have one cornerback recruit in the class in Mobile (Ala.) McGill Toolen three-star prospect Braden Turner.

Northwestern underwent a coaching change this offseason, seeing secondary coach Matt MacPherson move to coach exclusively safeties and Ryan Smith hired from Virginia Tech to coach cornerbacks.

“Thank you to Coach Fitz, Coach O’Neil and the staff for the opportunity to join the Northwestern Football Family,” Smith said in a statement when he was official hired earlier this month. “The commitment to excel both in competition and in the classroom, while having incredible facilities in one of the best cities in the country, makes Northwestern unlike any other program in college football. I look forward to contributing to the amazing culture that has been established here and can’t wait to get to work with these coaches and student-athletes.”
