4-star EDGE Jacob Smith, DL Jerod Smith visit Notre Dame

Cheshire (Conn.) Cheshire Academy four-star twin brother Jacob Smith and Jerod Smith are back on campus at Notre Dame for their third visit. Jerod shared a picture from the visit on Twitter.

The visit is the first trip back to South Bend for the brothers since January. Notre Dame has a commanding lead for both Smith’s according to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine.

Following that January visit they announced their top 10 lists consisting of AlabamaGeorgiaIowaKentuckyPenn StateMichiganOle MissNebraskaNotre Dame, and Texas. Their dad told On3 in January that they will then commit on their birthday in August.

Jacob is the No. 214 overall prospect and No. 18 EDGE in the 2024 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 3 player in Connecticut.

Jerod is the is the No. 264 overall prospect, the No. 26 defensive lineman and No. 4 player in the 2024 cycle according to the On3 Industry Ranking.

This spring has been a busy one for the Smith twins. Prior to Notre Dame, they visited Georgia (March 21), Alabama (March 22), Nebraska (March 25) and Michigan (March 28).

Jacob currently has an On3 NIL Valuation of $71K and Jerod has an On3 NIL Valuation of $48K. The On3 NIL Valuation is the industry’s leading index that sets high school and college athletes’ projected annual value (PAV). The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.

Notre Dame’s 2024 class so far

Notre Dame’s gotten off to a fast start with its 2024 recruiting class with eight commitments already.

Those commitments are four-star wide receiver Cam Williams, four-star quarterback CJ Carr, four-star running back Aneyas Williams, four-star offensive lineman Peter Jones, four-star tight end Jack Larsen, four-star defensive lineman Owen Wafle, three-star cornerback Karson Hobbs, three-star cornerback Leonard Moore and three-star offensive tackle Anthonie Knapp.
