Notre Dame cornerback Cam Hart announced his decision to return to Notre Dame for the 2023 season, tweeting a graphic revealing his plans on Tuesday evening.

His decision not to enter the 2023 NFL Draft gives the Fighting Irish a dependable veteran in the secondary going into coach Marcus Freeman‘s second season at the helm.

“Due to a shoulder injury I sustained during the Boston College Game, I could not participate in our final regular season game and will not be able to participate in this year’s bowl game,” Hart wrote. “Consequently, I believe my time here isn’t necessarily complete.

“Choosing to attend The University of Notre Dame has been the best decision I’ve ever made in my entire life. In light of that, I’ve decided to return for a fifth season and look forward to taking the field with my brothers in 2023!”

Hart has been at Notre Dame for four seasons, and the senior racked up 25 tackles, 3.0 tackles for a loss and four pass breakups while playing in 11 of the team’s 12 games this year.

During his four-year career with the Irish, Hart has logged 70 career tackles, 7.0 tackles for a loss, two interceptions and 13 passes defended. And though he won’t enter the 2023 NFL Draft, Cam Hart will almost certainly get some looks in the league following his final college season next year.
