When Peyton and Eli Manning were spotted on the Notre Dame campus Thursday, many believed it had something to do with their nephew, Arch Manning. The Fighting Irish are one of several teams vying for the young quarterback, who ranks as the No. 1 overall prospect in the 2023 class according to On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average.

That apparently wasn’t the case, however, as it later came out that the brothers were in South Bend to do a feature for the show “Peyton’s Places” on ESPN. The premise of the show is that Peyton Manning goes to different football venues across the country and gets a feel for the atmosphere. Notre Dame is set to be featured in one of the episodes, so Peyton and Eli made appearances all around campus Thursday, including at the Mendoza College of Business.

Eli Manning was also seen walking and talking with former Fighting Irish quarterbacks Brady Quinn and Rick Mirer. Because Quinn had recently started an NIL collective, many incorrectly speculated the visit was about Arch Manning.

In reality, Notre Dame is not one of the schools with a high chance to land the latest star from the Manning family. According to On3’s predictions, the school with the highest chance is Texas (38.1%), followed by Georgia (32.5%) and Alabama (27.2%). All other teams to offer have a less than 1% chance at the five-star recruit who hails from New Orleans.

Arch Manning most recently made a visit to Virginia on April 8, and visited the Alabama campus on April 2. Although Notre Dame appears low on his list at the moment, perhaps Peyton Manning will relay something from his visit to his nephew to move the Fighting Irish up. If not, at least fans have the episode of Peyton’s Places to look forward to.

The son of Cooper Manning, Arch has two siblings – May Manning and Heid Manning. Heid is a Class of 2024 offensive line recruit at Isidore Newman in New Orleans. May was a competitive volleyball player in high school.
