Jefferson (Ga.) four-star linebacker Sammy Brown entered Columbus, Ohio, this weekend without an offer from Ohio State.

That won’t be the case when he leaves.

The Buckeyes extended an offer to Brown while on his unofficial visit to the school this weekend for Ohio State’s game with Michigan State.

On3 does not do rankings for sophomore recruits during their fall seasons but Brown was included on the 2024 On3 Top 100 football recruit watchlist. He was one of 18 recruits in the nation to received a grade of 91.

With that being said, Brown is the No. 5 overall recruit in the country, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

He is also the No. 1 linebacker in the class according to the On3 Consensus.

Sammy Brown plays with one of the nation’s top defenders

Sammy Brown is teammates with Malaki Starks, the No. 8 overall player in the 2022 On3 Consensus.

Starks is committed to Georgia. He and Brown have formed a dynamic

In Jefferson’s first game of the season, the team went up against Tiger (Ga.) Rabun County. Tiger (Ga.) Rabun County is led by four-star quarterback and Bulldogs commit Gunner Stockton.

But even with two Georgia commits in their senior seasons on the field, Brown has the best player on the field that day.

“It was actually Starks’ 2024 teammate, Sammy Brown who was the breakout performer,” On3 Director of Scouting and Rankings Charles Power said. “The two-way athlete ran for 157 yards on 13 carries while also making plays at linebacker. He showed some high-end top speed on a 79-yard touchdown run.”
