4-star LB Arvell Reese commits to Ohio State
Cleveland (Ohio) Glenville four-star linebacker Arvell Reese has committed to Ohio State. He chose the Buckeyes over multiple programs including Kentucky and Michigan.
Reese is the No. 325 overall prospect and the No. 28 linebacker in the 2023 On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 7 player in Ohio.
On3 rates Reese even higher. He is the No. 128 overall prospect, No. 9 linebacker and No. 3 player in Ohio, according to the 2023 On300.

Reese is now the 19th commitment in the Buckeyes’ 2023 recruiting class, which ranks No. 4 in the 2023 On3 Consensus Team Recruiting Rankings and No. 1 in the Big Ten. He is the first linebacker prospect in Ohio State’s 2023 group.
The 6-foot-3, 225 pound prospect is the Buckeyes’ seventh in-state commitment for the 2023 cycle. The others are Findlay (Ohio) four-star interior offensive lineman Luke Montgomery, West Chester (Ohio) Lakota West four-star safety Malik Hartford, Cincinnati (Ohio) Winton Woods four-star cornerback Jermaine Mathews, Dayton (Ohio) four-star interior offensive lineman Josh Padilla, Cincinnati (Ohio) Lakota East four-star interior offensive lineman Austin Siereveld and Dublin (Ohio) four-star defensive lineman Will Smith Jr.
“Being from Ohio, almost every kid that played football growing up dreamed of playing for Ohio State,” Reese told On3’s Hayes Fawcett. “I was one of those kids, so putting on for my home state is going to be big.”
Reese has an On3 NIL Valuation of $14.5K. The On3 NIL Valuation is an index that looks to set the standard market value for both high school and college-level athletes. The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.

“One of the more physically-gifted linebacker prospects in the 2023 cycle. Measured at over 6-foot-3, and around 220 pounds with a 32.75-inch arm prior to his senior season. Gained around 20 pounds after the end of his junior year. Turned in multiple 4.65 second 40-yard dash times at a regional camp prior to his senior season. Played a portion of his junior year, working as a linebacker. Showed tantalizing range, athleticism and striking power in the small sample. Has the speed and athleticism to run sideline to sideline. Plants ball carriers on impact. Also has the ability to rush off the edge on passing downs. Transferred to traditional power Glenville prior to his senior season. Has one of the higher upsides among linebackers in the 2023 cycle, but has a smaller body of work at this time. Young for the class – will turn 18 years old right before his first game as a freshman in college.”
