No. 3 Ohio State has been without one of its veteran leaders for a few weeks now, as a Cameron Brown injury against Toledo has sidelined the fifth-year senior for the past two and a half games. He could make his return soon, though.

Ohio State coach Ryan Day provided a Cameron Brown injury update on Tuesday.

“I don’t think anybody’s more frustrated than he is so hopefully this is a great week of work and we can get him back on the field this week,” Day said.

Brown left a 77-21 win over Toledo on Sept. 17 with an undisclosed injury in the second quarter. He missed the team’s contests against Wisconsin and Rutgers.

With a five-game homestand to open the season now complete, the Buckeyes will hit the road this weekend for a game at Michigan State. They’d love to have the veteran cornerback available, though Day doesn’t plan to rush him if he’s not ready.

“He’s been itching to get back out there,” Day said. “He’s been stressing to get back out there. I’ve felt an urgency about him for the last week that he’s dying to get back out on the field. We’re going to obviously make sure that he’s where he needs to be and going to trust the doctors and all the medical people, but I mean he’s trying really hard to get back on the field.”

In the first three games of the season, Brown recorded five tackles and a pass breakup. He has started eight games over the past two seasons for Ohio State, including each of the three games he appeared in earlier this year.

Buckeyes could get key players back from injury

Along with Brown, Ohio State is hopeful it can get another key player back from injury against Michigan State this weekend.

Running back TreVeyon Henderson missed the team’s contest against Rutgers last weekend but could return to action this weekend, according to reporting from Lettermen Row on the On3 Network.

Wrote Lettermen Row reporter Spencer Holbrook:

When asked whether Henderson should return this week, Ohio State coach Ryan Day gave an emphatic ‘yes’ without hesitation.

But he also made sure to slide in the fact that the program won’t rush any player back — and they’ll defer to the medical staff to make the ultimate decisions.

“I think at the end of the day, we leave all of that stuff up to the medical staff to make those decisions,” Day said. “Certainly we’re anxious to get Tre back.”
