Four-star safety Jayden Bonsu of Hillside (NJ) St. Peters Prep announced his commitment to Ohio State Sunday afternoon.

The 6-foot-1, 205 pounder chose the Buckeyes over Michigan State, Penn State, Alabama, and Miami.

Bonsu on why he chose Ohio State

“What mainly led me to choosing Ohio State was the relationship I had with the coaching staff and the extent and efforts they went to get me showed how much of a priority I was for them,” Bonsu said. “Also a good chance of playing my freshman was very important to me and Ohio State offered that, so that was another decision factor as well.”

Ohio State felt like home

“What stood out to me was how I felt when I was there, it naturally felt like a second home for me,” Bonsu said. “I had my siblings there and I could tell they were enjoying themselves on the visit like it was their own. That’s when I knew this could be it.”

Ohio State’s plan for Bonsu

“Me and Coach Eliano have had several talks about where they see me,” Bonsu said. “He sees me starting out at the bandit position in the three safety set, but stressed by how versatile I am. I can play any position, I just have to have a starting point, which is bandit.”

Thoughts and expectations for current ‘23 Class

“I see us finishing at nothing less than the best, which is number 1,” Bonsu said. “Once we get to campus we are working to be the best players we can, on and off the field, and the goal is always the same, to win the natty.”

Well-built and physically-developed at 6-foot-1, 205 pounds,” On3’s Director of Scouting Charles Power wrote. “Has good length at safety with arms over 32 inches.
