It’s been a historic day for Ohio State’s Miyan Williams as the redshirt sophomore running back has tied the school record for single-game rushing touchdowns with five. He is now tied with Pete Johnson and Keith Byars atop the list.

His fifth score came less than 10 seconds into the fourth quarter on a goal line carry for two yards. His previous four rushing touchdowns came on plays of 70, one, one and two yards.

While Williams has been the bruising complement to TreVeyon Henderson and his fleeter feet, Ohio State was without the latter on Saturday, paving the way for Williams to roll over Rutgers.

With more than 10 minutes left in the game, Henderson had five touchdowns on 21 carries for 189 yards.

His 70-yard touchdown run in the third quarter got the attention of one LeBron James, who tweeted out his hype for Williams. Williams took a carry up the middle straight to the end zone, hitting the hole like a train.

“Aye Miyan Williams got sit down somewhere!! Hahahaha! 70 to the house! 4TDs. O-H……#GoBucks,” James tweeted.

Ohio State head coach Ryan Day gave an update on the injured TreVeyon Henderson after the game

Ohio State was without Henderson against Rutgers on Saturday as the sophomore was a late scratch in warmups. After the game, head coach Ryan Day was generally mum on what happened, but seemed generally optimistic that Henderson will be back sooner rather than later.

It was a lingering issue from the week prior, Day said, but something the Ohio State coaches didn’t think would keep Henderson out. When it was hampering him in warmups, they made the late decision to sit him out for the game — a fine call as Ohio State romped to a 49-10 win with Miyan Williams starring at running back.

“Yeah we certainly didn’t expect that to happen, going in. But just struggled in warmups. So we were expecting him to play — he practiced this week. So it showed up, and kind of did linger from last week, but we were kind of surprised he wasn’t able to make it. And so we had to go with Miyan,” Day said.
