Ohio State tailback Miyan Williams is set to return to action against Michigan Saturday, per ESPN’s Pete Thamel. That’s good news for the Buckeyes, as TreVeyon Henderson will miss the game with a foot injury.

The Buckeyes will also again be without star wideout Jaxon Smith-Njigba, who has been out since October with a hamstring injury. The star wide receiver has only been able to play three games for Ohio State this season.

Relatedly, the news comes shortly after it was reported the Wolverines running back Blake Corum will suit up for Saturday’s huge rivalry game as well after injuring his knee last week against Illinois.

Williams was last on the field for Ohio State two weeks ago against Indiana. The Buckeyes running back had been dominant against Indiana, rushing for 147 yards and a touchdown on 15 carries before disaster struck toward the end of the second quarter. Williams went down with a lower leg injury and was eventually carted off.

Kirk Herbstreit reveals key to Ohio State victory over Michigan in The Game

Kirk Herbstreit has laid out the blueprint for Ohio State to find a victory over Michiganin The Game.

Joining the crew on SportsCenter prior to College GameDay on ESPN, Herbstreit revealed some keys to the game for the Buckeyes.

“Michigan, if you look at them right now, every game they’ve played up until this point, they’ve been able to stop the run,” began Herbstreit. “I think as much as [CJ] Stroud and his receivers are going to be a big story, I think that Ohio State’s ability to win the line of scrimmage and run the football. They’ve had some injuries in that backfield.

“We’ll see who’s able to go today. Miyan Williams should be able to go. Dallan Hayden should be able to go. But I think at the end of the day it’s the explosiveness on the outside — Marvin Harrison No. 18 is going to have to have a big day. The tight end Cade Stover — going to have to have a big day. The ability to create one on one matchups on the perimeter, and then win those matchups.

“If Ohio State wins this game, it’s going to be they’re doing enough in the running game to make Michigan have to respect it, create the one on one opportunities and then Stroud have time to throw to be able to make big plays down the field. If the Buckeyes win this game, Stroud and those receivers have a big day throwing the football.”

If Ohio State can implement Kirk Herbstreit’s plans, they’ll likely find victory on Saturday, but it won’t be easy against a stout Michigan squad.
