E.J. Liddell has played at a high level for Ohio State all season long. Having scored in double digits in all of the Buckeyes’ games during the 2021-22 campaign, it’s no surprise that the standout junior forward was at the top of his game on Thursday night in Ohio State’s matchup against Minnesota.

While the No. 16 ranked Buckeyes recorded a 75-64 road win over the Golden Gophers to improve to 13-4 overall and 6-2 in league play, Liddell put together a standout performance – scoring 23 points on 9-of-14 shooting while pulling down 15 rebounds and handing out five assists in 35 minutes of action.

After his dominant outing, ESPN Stats & Info shared a mind-boggling stat that Liddell set on Thursday night: he’s the first Ohio State player in the last 25 seasons to record at least 20 points, 15 rebounds and five assists in a game.

Liddell, a former On3 Consensus four-star recruit out of the Class of 2019, is averaging 19.6 points, 7.8 rebounds and 2.8 assists per game for Ohio State – while shooting 52.1% from the field. He and the Buckeyes return to action Sunday on the road at No. 6 Purdue, with tipoff scheduled for noon ET on CBS.

What’s prettier than a coast-to-coast basket? One that’s followed up with an alley-oop.

Senior Minnesota forward Charlie Daniels’s inside pass was stolen by Buckeye star E.J. Liddell, who took the ball up the court and found Malaki Branham cutting in on the right for the alley-oop finish. While it wasn’t your usual catch and flush highlight, it was a pretty play that helped get the Buckeyes going early against a formidable Gophers team.

Liddell recently notched a new career-high with 34 points against Northwestern. His hot shooting was a big reason the Buckeyes were able to come out on top against Northwestern, 95-87, on Jan. 9.
