Football comes with it many different bruises, scrapes, and cuts. And in Friday night’s CFP Semifinal between Ohio State and Texas, OSU quarterback Will Howard had a nasty looking lump on his hand.

So far, Ohio State leads Texas 7-0 in the first half. We’ll have to see if the lump affects Howard at all in the game. It’s on his non-throwing hand is about the size of a giant golf ball. ESPN’s Holly Rowe updated his status in the middle of the game.

Here is the video of the play where the injury was believed to have occurred.

“He said Will Howard has this huge knot on his hand. And they’re not exactly sure what happened. They think he may have bumped into somebody’s facemask. Let’s take a look at this play and we’ll see if this is it. Will is not complaining about it. He has not received any treatment on it or any ice on it. He doesn’t appear to be in a ton of pain, but I can tell you, it’s the size of a golf ball. But he is toughing it out right now and does not seem affected,” Rowe explained.

It didn’t seem to affect him very much for the rest of the game, as the Buckeyes won 28-14. Howard completed 24 of 33 passes for 289 yards, while tossing in a touchdown and an interception. OSU receiver Carnell Tate led the team in receiving yards, hauling in seven catches for 87 receiving yards.

Buckeyes running back TreVeyon Henderson had one of the biggest plays of the game, a 75-yard touchdown catch on a screen. It helped to put Ohio State back on top before halftime, leading 14-7 going into the locker room. OSU receiver Emeka Egbuka hauled in five catches for 51 receiving yards. The Longhorn secondary did an incredible job on freshman phenom Jeremiah Smith, limiting him to just one catch for three receiving yards.
