The Oklahoma Sooners had a scrimmage on Saturday and rest assured wide receiver Jayden Gibson let everyone know that he is a name to remember this fall and beyond. The former Under Armour All-American has been living up to his lofty pedigree early in his college football career with the Sooners. On Saturday, he made a ridiculous one-handed grab, skying for the football while his other hand was tied up with the defensive back.

Check it out below as the catch is at 0:18 into the highlight tape.

Gibson was a four-star prospect in the 2022 cycle, according to the On3 Consensus Rankings. He was also rated as the No. 26 receiver in America and the No. 148 overall prospect in the country.

The uber-talented wideout wasted little time in making an instant impact in Norman from the second he arrived on campus. The freshman receiver dominated the Sooners’ Red/White game this spring, hauling in three catches for 113 receiving yards, including an electrifying 95-yard touchdown catch.

Check out a clip of that below.

A Florida native, Gibson originally committed to the Florida Gators, before choosing Oklahoma over Auburn, Florida State, Georgia, Miami (Florida), and others. During his final two seasons of high school football with West Orange High School (Winter Garden, Florida), he hauled in over 1,600 receiving yards and 22 touchdown catches.

Gibson originally committed to sign with Florida on Oct. 13, when Dan Mullen was still in place. A month later, Mullen was gone, and Billy Napier was hired as the new head coach of the Gators on Dec. 5. Gibson was just one of many members of Florida’s 2022 recruiting class that ended up switching their commitments and going elsewhere, following Mullen’s dismissal.

Regardless, it’s going to be exciting to watch the electrifying wideout suit up in the Crimson and Cream not only this season, but for the next few years. He’s already proven he’s a special talent, so Sooner fans have every right to be excited about his tantalizing skill set.
