Oklahoma coach Lincoln Riley understandably wasn’t happy after Saturday’s game. The Sooners suffered their first loss of the season and Baylor’s fans rushed the field before the game was over.

In the postgame press conference, Riley responded, discussing the referees’ decision not to penalize the Bears for the early field-rush. Then, he said Baylor’s decision to kick a field goal with three seconds left went against a “code of sportsmanship.”

Oklahoma entered the game as a 5-point favorite, but just didn’t have an answer for Baylor in the second half. The two teams were tied at halftime, but Baylor scored 17 points in the fourth quarter to come away with its eighth win of the season.

The Sooners were held to just 260 total yards of offense and made a quarterback switch mid-game. Caleb Williams started the game, but had a rough go. He went 10 for 19 for 146 yards and two interceptions, which led fans to call for Spencer Rattler to jump under center. Rattler entered in the third quarter and completed 4 of 6 passes for 36 yards.

Baylor, meanwhile, ran an explosive offensive attack. The Bears totaled 413 yards, including 296 rushing yards. Abram Smith and Gerry Bohanon combined for 253 carries on 29 carries, and Bohanon scored two touchdowns.

The game is sure to shake things up in the Big 12 standings. Oklahoma entered Saturday with a one-game lead over Oklahoma State for first. Baylor, meanwhile, was a game back of the Cowboys in third place. Oklahoma State takes on TCU tonight in what’s now a huge game in the Big 12.

With two games left, the Big 12 just got that much more interesting.

Baylor fans rush field prematurely, Lincoln Riley loses cool

Baylor fans were so excited by Saturday’s win over undefeated, No. 8 Oklahoma that they literally just couldn’t wait one more second.

Oklahoma entered the Big 12 matchup with a perfect, 9-0 record, and with a win, the Sooners had an opportunity to make a leap in the College Football Playoff rankings, as the committee put them as low as No. 8. But Dave Aranda and the Baylor Bears had other plans; the two-loss Bears held a 24-14 lead over the favored Oklahoma Sooners with seconds left on the game clock. Baylor fans, of course, emptied the bleachers to rush the field — the only problem, however, is they rushed with still one second left on the clock.

As Bears fans took to the field before the game had even ended, Oklahoma head coach Lincoln Riley lost his cool at the referees. He sent his entire team and most of the coaching staff to the locker room, despite Baylor’s offense needing one last play — presumably, a kneel — to end the game.

Riley went ballistic for at least two minutes while Baylor security cleared fans from the playing field. Eventually, the Oklahoma Sooners’ team re-emerged from the locker room. But instead of lining up 11 men for a quarterback kneel, Aranda instead decided to kick a field goal and extend its lead with no time left. The somewhat disrespectful move gave Aranda a 27-14 win over Oklahoma, ruining the Sooners’ playoff hopes. And of course, it ended with a second field rush.
