Malachi Nelson & teammates committed to Oklahoma

Los Alamitos (Calif.) High has some of the best talent in the country, including three elite, top-100 recruits in the 2023 class committed to Oklahoma.

Quarterback Malachi Nelson, the No. 2 player in the 2023 On3 Top 100, is the headliner with wide receivers DeAndre Moore Jr. and Makai Lemon as his worthy co-stars.

Moore is the No. 50 recruit in the class and Lemon is the No. 79 prospect. All three are committed to Oklahoma.

Nelson committed in July. Lemon followed in and Moore joined the party late in September.

Los Alamitos (Calif.) High are always creating highlights

When you have a five-star quarterback flanked by two four-star wide receivers, you are bound to be one of the most exciting teams to watch in the area.

That is the case with Los Alamitos (Calif.) High.

Just last week, the team put on a show against Newport Beach (Calif.) Corona del Mar, winning the game 42-14. Nelson threw four touchdowns in the game.

On3 Director of Recruiting Chad Simmons was in the Golden State last week to watch the game and came away impressed with all three players.

But the most impressive performance might have come from Moore, who transferred to the school before the season.

“What stood out as much, if not more, than anything was the power the No. 50 player in the country plays with,” Simmons wrote. “He has great lower-body strength, and he played running back some, and he ran through tackles, he moved the pile, and he ran with toughness and a low center of gravity.”
