The former No. 1 overall prospect in the On3 Class of 2021 rankings has played like it early and often for the Sooners faithful.

The fleet-footed quarterback has made amazing play after amazing play and has singlehandedly turned the Oklahoma offense into a well-oiled machine since taking over in the Red River Showdown.

ESPN’s Kirk Herbstreit not only likes Williams’ chances to be a Heisman finalist for the 2021 season, but he thinks the phenom will be the face of college football for the next two years.

On his first snap in the Red River Showdown, Williams immediately showed off his world-class speed in the open field with an epic 66-yard touchdown run.

Simply put, nobody could touch him. All Williams did was lead the Sooners to the biggest comeback in Red River Showdown history. The Sooners were down 28-7 and they came back to stun the Longhorns, 55-48, in an instant classic.

Williams followed up his debut with another spectacular performance last week, propelling the Sooners to a 52-31 win over TCU. He shredded the Horned Frog defense for over 360 all-purpose yards and 5 total touchdowns.
