The New Orleans Saints were shockingly dealt a huge blow on Tuesday afternoon when longtime head coach Sean Payton decided to retire. That news from the Saints led to a classic tweet from Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin.

Kiffin left his tweet without a caption, but he included a simple image of a nearby window that had a “Who Dat Nation” Saints sign on display.

The news of Payton’s retirement came as a late shock to the NFL world. Payton has been in New Orleans since 2006, coaching to a 152-89 regular season record, a Super Bowl victory in 2009, and the 2006 AP Coach of the Year award. The Saints made the playoffs nine times in Payton’s tenure, and went 9-8 while missing the playoffs this season.

Kiffin’s troll came just over an hour following Payton’s decision to retire from the Saints. The Ole Miss coach is currently in New Orleans while on a recruiting trip to visit 2023 Five-Star Plus+ quarterback Arch Manning.

Saints troll aside, Kiffin is vying for Manning’s commitment

Arch Manning is the top overall recruit in the 2023 class according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is one of four Five-Star Plus+ prospects in his cycle.

Ole Miss isn’t the only school vying for Manning, as Georgia, Alabama, Clemson, and Texas are in the mix as well. Georgia and Alabama took a visit to New Orleans last week to visit Manning’s school, Isidore Newman.

Despite not even being committed yet, Manning already has a giant NIL Valuation from On3. The highly touted prospect is currently valued at $1.6 million.

Even though some fans will have some fun with Kiffin’s tweet, he is likely not going to be making the jump to the Saints. Ole Miss is coming off of a 10-3 season that included a 6-2 record against SEC opponents. The Rebels took on Baylor int he Sugar Bowl in January, falling 21-7.
