Hugh Freeze is attempting to get Auburn back on the right track with recruiting and has a pretty good sales pitch. Ernest Campbell, a 2024 wide receiver out of Refugio (TX) High School tweeted out a graphic sending social media into a frenzy. It pointed out how Auburn was the only school in the SEC to have a Buc-ee’s in town.

Especially when pursuing a prospect from Texas, showing off the local Buc-ee’s is a great way to make someone feel at home. The gas station has quite the following in the Lone Star State and has just begun expanding out east. While there are a few Buc-ee’s locations in SEC country, Auburn is the only college town with one.

Everyone loved the graphic from Auburn but Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin still decided to have some fun with the SEC West rivals. He sent out a graphic of his own, showcasing the local cuisine in Oxford.

Below the graphic reads a super small statement, “There’s this Chevron near campus that sells really good Chicken on a Stick. That’s pretty much it.”

You can find 4 Corners in Oxford near the city’s nightlife, being located on S. Lamar. The concept is a pretty simple one. A chicken tender is placed onto a wooden stick and then served out to whoever walks into the gas station. Mostly, it’s for people who have enjoyed a night out on the Square and are looking for a late-night snack.

But then you dive into the options Buc-ee’s has and we could be here for quite some time. Everyone who frequently visits the gas station chain has their own personal order. There’s so much more to the experience than pumping gas.

Not that Lane Kiffin needs a reason to have some fun on Twitter but there was a reason he decided to go after Auburn. Ole Miss is recruiting Campbell, with an offer recently being extended to the soon-to-be senior wide receiver. OM Spirit‘s Ben Garrett reported that Campbell will visit the Rebels this summer.

When he does arrive on campus, maybe Kiffin will have a few Chicken on a Sticks ready to roll.

Campbell plays high school football at Refugio (TX) High School, where he is a three-star prospect. He was the No. 435 overall recruit in the 2024 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Rankings, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
