Saturday may be a celebration of Eli Manning in Oxford, Miss. But all eyes are on his nephew Arch Manning, the No. 1 recruit in the 2023 recruiting cycle.

The five-star quarterback is at Ole Miss for a visit this weekend. Before the game, Manning was spotted on the sidelines signing autographs for fans.

Three-star 2022 running back and Ole Miss commit Quinshon Judkins also posted a video of Arch Manning and Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin talking before the game.

“I know Oxford really well,” Manning told Sports Illustrated. “So, It’s kind of like a second home, so I’m excited to get back and watch a good game. A lot of scoring (on Saturday) I think.”

Arch Manning has previously visited Alabama, Georgia and Texas. He has more planned visit this fall to Clemson.

Why is Arch Manning at Ole Miss today?

The Manning family is football royalty. But they are also Ole Miss royalty.

Archie Manning was a first team All-American and SEC Player of the Year for the Rebels in 1969. Eli Manning was SEC Offensive Player of the Year and second team All-American in 2003.

Ole Miss is retiring Eli Manning’s No. 10 jersey during its game against LSU. He is the third player in Rebels history to have his number retired after his father Archie Manning and Chucky Mullins. They have painted the end zones with Manning’s name with the retirement ceremony taking place at halftime.

Manning will be with his uncle to celebrate the occasion.

Ole Miss is hopeful Arch Manning will be the third Manning quarterback to suit up for the Rebels.

Manning played on national television last night

Arch Manning’s busy weekend started with a Friday Night Lights game that was broadcast on national television as New Orleans Isidore Newman hosted Tampa Berkeley Prep. Georgia head coach Kirby Smart also made the trip to the Bayou during the Bulldogs bye week.

It was not the best performance for Manning as the stronger Berkeley Prep team played a great game, winning 49-24.

According to Nola.com, Manning finished 18 of 35 passes for 213 yards with a passing touchdown and two interceptions.

But Manning did have the highlight of the game with a long touchdown run that showcased his impressive athleticism.

Despite the rough result, Isidore Newman head coach Nelson Stewart was impressed with Manning’s performance.

“I thought our kids played really hard and it was the finest game I’ve seen Arch Manning play,” Stewart said. “I’ve never seen him do what he did tonight against a physically superior opponent. We hung in there and I’m proud to be his coach and so proud of the effort I saw tonight.”
