The Ole Miss Rebels have found their next cornerbacks coach by hiring him away from SEC rival Arkansas’ coaching staff, as reported on Monday. Lane Kiffin will be joined by Sam Carter as the newest addition to his coaching staff, after he coached at Arkansas for the past two seasons.

Ole Miss finds new cornerbacks coach

“Arkansas’ Sam Carter has accepted the Ole Miss cornerbacks coach job,” stated On3 Sports’ Matt Zenitz. “Carter is an ex-TCU All-Big 12 defensive back who has been on Arkansas’ staff the last two years.”

Both Ole Miss and Arkansas finished with top-25 rankings in the final AP Poll of the season. Ole Miss finished the year with a 10-3 record, just ahead of the Razorbacks’ 9-4 finish.

Over the 2021 season, Arkansas ranked fifth in the SEC in passing yards allowed, forcing 13 interceptions on the year. Ole Miss finished third-worst in the conference in passing yards allowed, and the addition of Carter to the defensive coaching staff is hopeful to turn their ranking around.
