St. Louis (Mo.) Cardinal Ritter College Prep safety Marvin Burks Jr. named his top 15 schools last month. But one program has taken a commanding lead in the race to land him, according to the On3 Recruiting Prediction (RPM).

A one-time Missouri lean, Burks is now heavily favored to end up with Lane Kiffin and Ole Miss. The On3 RPM gives the Rebels a 96.2 percent chance of securing his commitment, with Missouri trailing in a very distant second place.

The 6-foot-2, 181-pounder is scheduled to officially visit Oxford this weekend, his second trip since November.

Burks is the No. 328 prospect in the 2023 class, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He ranks as the nation’s No. 28 safety and the No. 10 junior in Missouri.

The Industry Comparison shows On3 is significantly higher on him than the other three services, though. In the most recent On300 rankings, he was tabbed as the country’s No. 235 prospect, No. 23 safety and No. 6 Show-Me State player.

Long list of schools still pursuing Marvin Burks

Early last month, Burks named his top 15, including Arizona State, Arkansas, Florida, Louisville, Miami, Michigan, Michigan State, Nebraska, Ole Miss, Oregon, Penn State, Tennessee, Texas A&M, USC and Wisconsin.

He has yet to set a commitment timeline or decide when he’ll next cut down his list, but Burks did give On3’s Tim Verghese insight earlier this spring into what his commitment will hinge on.

“Everyone’s going to have great fit facilities, but I’m just looking a coaching staff that makes me feel comfortable,” he said. “And then the strength and conditioning coaches, because that’s who I’m going to be with the most. … Playing time early and just somewhere I feel home, an atmosphere where I can thrive at. That’s what’s going to play a big part.”

On defense last fall, Marvin Burks notched 33 tackles and an interception. He snagged 16 catches for 340 yards and three touchdowns on offense.

About the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine

The On3 RPM was released to the public in December. The On3 engineering group teamed up with Spiny.ai to create the industry’s first algorithm and machine learning-based product to predict where athletes will attend college.

It factors in machine learning, expert predictions, social sentiment, visits, and historical trends. However, expert predictions are still a big piece of the RPM equation.
