Tim Tebow was left impressed with what Lane Kiffin has done for Ole Miss. Following their victory over Mississippi State in the Egg Bowl, Tebow praised Kiffin for how he’s turned around the Rebels program.

“I think he’s done a great job this year,” stated Tebow on Kiffin. “People really highlight their offense. Scoring points. He’s a really good quarterback coach and developer .. But look down the stretch — it really was their defense that stepped up.”

Moreover, Tebow continued to emphasize the importance of Ole Miss’ defense. Even though the Rebels were built on Kiffin’s offense, their defense continually showed their strength.

“Yes, they still miss a lot of tackles and it probably drives him nuts. But D.J. Durkin has done a really good job down the stretch,” recognized Tebow. “I mean, besides the last couple of drives they did a really good job against [Mike] Leach and this offense and Will Rogers. Even at the end of the game, they made stops. Against A&M, stop after stop.”

The Ole Miss defense has helped the Rebels win games, even with a bevy of injuries on offense. Kiffin believed the defense would come around in his second season in Oxford, and he was right in his hypothesis.

Tebow: ‘It wasn’t just dependent on Matt Corral .. man, that team stepped up.’

Furthermore, quarterback Matt Corral was the leader of Kiffin’s squad. Still, Tebow believes the talented Heisman contender didn’t have to do it all by himself this season.

“I want to give a lot of credit to what Lane has done in bringing in coordinators that have been able to develop not necessarily the strengths of the team. That’s why I think they had a successful year. It wasn’t just dependent on Matt Corral .. man, that team stepped up,” stated Tebow. “.. I think he’s done a great job of starting to build the culture there.

“That’s going to be really interesting. If he stays, will he be able to continue building that culture? Or is he looking for a different spot?”

As Lane Kiffin’s name pops up around the coaching carousel, any school would be lucky to have him. Still, after proving how great of a coach he can be at Ole Miss, many wonder if it’s worth leaving for Kiffin.

Time will tell what Kiffin decides to do. Still, he has a fan in Tim Tebow — impressing the Florida legend and many more with his turnaround of Ole Miss.
