Picayune (Miss.) Picayune Memorial defeated West Point (Miss.) 31-21 for a state championship on Friday night. Oregon four-star running back commit Dante Dowdell led the way.

According to Lawrence Hopkins, Dowdell recorded 190 yards and three touchdowns on 28 carries. His 37-yard touchdown helped clinch the title win.

The 6-foot-1.5, 210 pound recruit is the No. 184 overall prospect and No. 10 running back in the 2023 cycle, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 4 player in Mississippi.

Dowdell is the only running back in Oregon’s 2023 recruiting class, which contains 24 commits. The group, which ranks No. 12 in the 2023 On3 Consensus Team Recruiting Rankings and No. 1 in the Pac-12, is led by Detroit Martin Luther King five-star quarterback Dante Moore.

Dowdell has an On3 NIL Valuation of $27K. The On3 NIL Valuation is an index that looks to set the standard market value for both high school and college-level athletes. The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.
