After his appearance at Oregon‘s Saturday Night Live event, Mesa (Ariz.) Red Mountain four-star wide receiver Ja’Kobi Lane earned an offer from the Ducks. According to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine, Lane is now heavily favored to land in Eugene for his college football career.

Oregon’s chance to earn Lane’s commitment is now 98.7%, following a prediction from ScoopDuck’s Justin Hopkins. Lane, a 6-foot-5, 180 pound wideout, has only taken unofficial visits to the Ducks,  Colorado State and Kansas State.

“It really was like a dream come true when they told me I had an offer,” Lane told Hopkins. “Oregon has always been a dream school for me. I love the school, the offense. And I have friends there or going there.”

Lane is the No. 373 overall prospect and No. 51 wide receiver in the 2023 On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 9 player in Arizona.

On3‘s rankings rate him even higher as the No. 287 overall prospect, No. 41 wide receiver and No. 6 player in Arizona in the 2023 On300.

Recruiting impact if Lane commits to Oregon

Lane would be a massive pickup for Oregon’s 2023 recruiting class, which currently ranks No. 14 in the 2023 On3 Consensus Team Recruiting Rankings and No. 2 in the Pac 12. The Ducks’ group is currently made up of two five-stars, six four-stars and three three-stars.

If he commits to Oregon, Lane would join San Jose (Calif.) Mater Dei five-star wide receiver Jurrion Dickey and Flower Mound (Texas) Marcus four-star wide receiver Ashton Cozart as the group’s wideouts. The Ducks’ class also includes Detroit (Mich.) Martin Luther King five-star quarterback Dante Moore.

Additionally, Lane would become Oregon’s eighth-highest-ranked 2023 recruit if he chooses head coach Dan Lanning and the Ducks.

Ja’Kobi Lane On3 Scouting Summary

The following is the On3 Scouting Summary for Ja’Kobi Lane:

“Jump ball fiend who is an absolute menace when it comes to 50-50 balls. Long and lean athletic build with plenty of room to grow. Stands in at 6-foot-4, over 170 pounds with a 6-foot-8 wingspan. Jumped a freaky 34-inch vertical for his size during the spring camp circuit prior to his junior season. Body positioning and balance is second to none compared to other X-type receivers in the 2023 recruiting cycle. Natural pass catcher who has strong hands and plucks the ball with ease. Totaled 76 catches for 990 yards and 14 touchdowns during his junior campaign. Solid twitch for his size, can get off the line of scrimmage. Lacks top end speed in order to separate from defenders when pushing vertically. Will be a significant redzone threat at the next level and can see his NFL stock rise as he gets stronger and more explosive with a collegiate strength and conditioning program.”
