The Oregon Ducks just released their uniforms ahead of their Week 6 matchup against California on Friday night.

Check out the new combination here.

The Ducks decided to go with the all black unis with the bright yellow numbers and letters that seem to glow in the dark. It’s a nice-looking combination.

Oregon fans are hoping this week not only does the team look good, but they play good as well.

The program is eager to flush the 31-24 overtime loss to the Stanford Cardinal from their minds and they’ll look to do that on Friday night against the California Golden Bears.

Injuries

Unfortunately for Oregon, head coach Mario Cristobal recently announced that running back C.J. Verdell has been ruled out for the rest of the 2021 season with a lower leg injury he suffered against Stanford.

Verdell ran for 406 yards and six touchdowns, adding 74 receiving yards and a touchdown over five games before the injury. His biggest performance of the season came in Week Two against Ohio State, where Verdell picked up 195 scrimmage yards and three touchdowns on the way to an upset win.

With Verdell out for the remainder of the season, backup Travis Dye will look to be the feature back against the Golden Bears.

Other options include freshmen Trey Benson, Byron Cardwell, and Seven McGee. Cardwell made a splash in fall camp this year for the Ducks and impressed his coaches.

Not only did the Ducks lose Verdell for the season against Stanford, they also lost senior safety Bennett Williams for the season, too. The talented safety suffered a broken fibula against the Cardinal.

It’s disappointing news for the Ducks because he was in the middle of a very promising season. Williams had already snatched three interceptions on the 2021 season, including a pick-six against Arizona. He also had already racked up 20 tackles through the first four weeks of the season.

Oregon defensive back Verone McKinley III

Nicknamed “The General”, Oregon defensive back Verone McKinley III is living up to his nickname in 2021. He ranks third on the team in tackles with 27. The Texas native has already racked up four interceptions, two pass breakups, and one forced fumble thus far in the season,

None of the plays he’s made were bigger than the game-sealing pick he had against the then-No. 3 Ohio State Buckeyes in Columbus late in the fourth quarter.

Check out the video below.

McKinley III’s interception with 2:50 remaining stunned the Ohio State Buckeyes and propelled Oregon to one of the biggest wins in school history.

It was a matter of sweet redemption for the talented corner after he gave up the game-winning touchdown against Auburn in 2019.

Ducks fans, players, and coaches are hoping “The General” will continue to shine in 2021 for their team.

Oregon faces off against California on Friday night at 10:30 p.m. EST. The game will be played in Eugene, Oregon.
