Dominos keep falling across the college football landscape. Miami’s decision to cut ties with Manny Diaz in favor of Oregon head coach Mario Cristobal puts the Ducks admin in a brand new coaching search.

Oregon’s athletics director is looking for someone who can not only match what Cristobal’s been able to do but also get the Ducks back to the national title game. In four seasons as head coach at Oregon, Cristobal accumulated a 35-13 record, including a 2-2 run in bowl games. Cristobal led the Ducks to 2019 and 2020 Pac-12 titles with another conference championship game appearance in 2021.

Cristobal’s successor must also be able to keep Oregon at the top of a conference in the midst of a facelift. USC, Washington and Washington State all opted to make changes for the 2022 season with the Trojans snagging the big prize in Lincoln Riley.

The current odds favorite to take over in Eugene is UCLA head coach Chip Kelly. The former Oregon head coach has an 18-25 record with the Bruins but finished this season 8-4.

Here are the odds leaders to replace Mario Cristobal, according to SportsLine.

Cristobal signs 10-year deal

Oregon head coach Mario Cristobal is officially leaving Eugene for Miami and the move comes with a big contract. Cristobal signed a 10-year, $8 million a year deal to become to next head coach of the Miami Hurricanes.

Zenitz reported Monday that Cristobal informed the Oregon Ducks team in the morning that he will be accepting the head coaching job at Miami.

Cristobal replaces Manny Diaz, who was fired just hours prior to the news breaking. It appeared as though Miami was waiting for Cristobal to give an official word before parting ways with Diaz.

Cristobal had been linked to Miami for most of the past week, despite Oregon playing in the Pac-12 Championship game Saturday with a bowl game still left on schedule.
