Placerville (Calif.) Placer offensive tackle Zander Esty has committed to Oregon State. He announced the news over social media.

Esty is not ranked in the 2023 On3 Consensus and the 2023 On300. He is 6-foot-5 and weighs 275 pounds.

“I want to thank all these coaches for believing in me and giving me a opportunity of a lifetime,” Esty wrote. “With that be said, Corvallis I’M HOME!!!”

What Esty means for Oregon State’s 2023 recruiting class

The Beavers’ 2023 recruiting class now has 15 commitments. It ranks No. 53 in the 2023 On3 Consensus Team Recruiting Rankings and No. 7 in the Pac-12.

The group is composed of one four-star, 12 three-stars and two unranked prospects. Oregon State’s highest-ranked recruit is Las Vegas (Nev.) Spring Valley four-star defensive lineman Kelze Howard, the No. 263 overall prospect in the On3 Consensus.

Esty, who chose the Beavers over programs including California and UNLV, is the second offensive tackle recruit in Oregon State’s class alongside Billings (Mont.) Billings West three-star Jacob Anderson. He is also the Beavers’ first commitment this month.

In July, Oregon State notched pledges from Howard, Carthage (Tex.) three-star wide receiver Montrel Hatten, Margate (Fla.) Dillard three-star wide receiver Tastean Reddicks, Federal Way (Wash.) three-star cornerback Andre Piper-Jordan Jr., Clearwater (Fla.) Sweden three-star defensive lineman Thomas Collins and Manvel (Texas) cornerback Jalen O’Neal. Hatten and Piper-Jordan Jr. are two of the top three prospects in the Beavers’ class behind Howard.

Oregon State also found success on the recruiting trail in June. They earned commitments from Anderson, Pittsburg (Calif.) three-star wide receiver Zachary Card, Lakewood (Wash.) three-star wide receiver David Wells, Downey (Calif.) three-star quarterback Aidan Chiles and West Palm Beach (Fla.) The King’s Academy three-star EDGE Zakiah Saez.

Esty chose the Beavers following an official visit to Corvallis on June 20. He also took an official visit to California four days later.
