Nick Singleton injury update: Former Penn State RB suffers broken foot at Senior Bowl practice
Former Penn State star running back Nick Singleton reportedly suffered a broken foot during Thursday’s Senior Bowl practice in Mobile, Ala., according to the Reading Eagle’s Rich Scarcella. Scarcella cited Singleton’s father in a Friday morning post on X/Twitter.
Singleton is expected to be among the top running backs selected in April’s 2026 NFL Draft. ESPN‘s Mel Kiper Jr. currently has Singleton listed as his No. 6 running back on his latest positional ranking released last week. Nittany Lions teammate and fellow senior ‘back Kaytron Allen is currently ranked just ahead at No. 5 on Kiper’s list.
The 6-foot, 224-pound Singleton was second on the Penn State roster with 549 rushing yards and 13 touchdowns on 123 carries in 2025. He finished behind Allen, who led the team with 1,303 rushing yards and 15 touchdowns on a team-high 210 carries as the Nittany Lions’ lead back last season.
Allen and Singleton both eclipsed the 1,000-yard mark in 2024 when Allen had 1,108 rushing yards and eight scores on 220 carries. Singleton added 1,099 rushing yards and a team-high 12 touchdowns on 172 carries.
Despite taking a backseat to Allen in 2025, Singleton still finished his illustrious Penn State career as the program’s all-time career touchdown holder with 55 total scores. That included a program-best 44 rushing touchdowns, surpassing Saquon Barkley‘s 43 rushing scores between 2015-17.

“Obviously, this year wasn’t what I expected (or what) the whole team expected,” Singleton told The Daily Collegian prior to the final game of the season. “But I wouldn’t trade it for nothing. These last four years at Penn State meant a lot to me, my teammates, coaches and obviously my family back at home. So to go out there this Saturday to get a win, especially my senior night, will just mean a lot.
“I want to get a lot of records, the rushing touchdown record, the total touchdown record, just being that type of player for my teammates and all that. The fans could talk about me when I leave, obviously, very good player I was, very good teammate I was. That type of legacy I just want to leave, especially at that point.”
Singleton signed with Penn State as a former five-star recruit in the 2022 recruiting cycle out of Governor Mifflin (Reading, Pa.), where he was ranked as the No. 1 player out of Pennsylvania, the No. 1 running back in the class and the No. 27 player overall, according to the Rivals Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all three major recruiting media companies.
