Now that official visits are already taking place, the recruiting world has officially turned its eyes toward the Class of 2023. With a bevy of notable quarterbacks, a geographic diversity among the nation’s top players and plenty of other notable storylines, the 2023 cycle is shaping up to be one of the most interesting in recent memory. And, per usual, the players at the top of the class will be among the most highly recruited in the nation.

Following the recent release of an updated On300 ranking, a number of changes have happened in the On3 Consensus, including five new five-star prospects.

Checking in as the No. 25 overall prospect in the class is Ashburn (Va.) Broad Run interior offensive lineman and Penn State commitment Alex Birchmeier.

Alex Birchmeier Scouting Summary

“Alex Birchmeier is a well-rounded offensive lineman with advanced movement skills and functional strength. Was identified as one of the cycle’s top offensive line prospects early in his career. That’s mainly due to his projectable athleticism. Primarily lines up at guard for his high school team. Excels as a puller in the run game and gets to the second level with ease. Displays strong initial quickness and footwork. Technical with his hands and finishes blocks at a high rate.

“Furthermore, Alex Birchmeier has validated his athleticism and quickness in the combine setting with good marks in the short shuttle. Also doubles as a top wrestler and back-to-back state champion as a sophomore and junior. Has solid length and projects on the interior at the next level.” – Charles Power, On3 Director of Scouting and Rankings
