Pleasantville (N.J.) Irvington three-star wide receiver Famah Toure committed to Rutgers Friday night. The 6-foot-4, 205 pound wideout chose the Scarlet Knights over Illinois, Kentucky and West Virginia.

Toure is the No. 1,176 overall prospect and No. 171 wide receiver in the 2023 On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 20 player in New Jersey.

On3’s rankings rate him even higher. While he is not in the 2023 On300, On3 ranks Toure as the No. 155 wide receiver and the No. 14 player in New Jersey.

What Toure means for Rutgers’ 2023 class

The wide receiver joins a Rutgers class currently ranked No. 56 in the 2023 On3 Consensus Team Recruiting Rankings. He is the 16th commitment in Rutgers’ class.

Toure is also Rutgers’ fifth commitment from New Jersey alongside Union City (N.J.) three-star interior offensive lineman JaSire Peterson, Sewell (N.J.) three-star interior offensive lineman John Stone, Princeton (N.J.) Hun School three-star tight end Logan Blake and Princeton (N.J.) Hun School three-star tight end Dante Barone. He is also Rutgers’ fifth wide receiver pledge with Estero (Fla.) three-star Jason Duclona, Valley Stream (N.Y.) Holy Trinity Diocesan three-star Dylan Braithwaite, Washington (Penn.) three-star Davoun Fuse and Danvers (Mass.) St. John’s Prep three-star Jesse Ofurie.

By committing to Rutgers, Toure joins his brother, Mohamed, on the Scarlet Knights. Mohamed Toure, a 6-foot-2, 213 pound defensive lineman, is heading into his fourth season at Rutgers. Last year, Mohamed played in all of the Scarlet Knights’ 13 games and started five of them. He concluded the 2021 season with 52 tackles, eight tackles-for-loss, four-and-a-half sacks and one fumble recovery.

The wideout took three visits during his recruitment process. Toure traveled to Rutgers for an official visit on June 17, Illinois for an official visit on June 21 and Notre Dame for an unofficial visit on April 9. He received offers from programs including the Scarlet Knights, the Fighting Illini, Kentucky, West Virginia, Akron, Boston College, Duke, Georgia Tech, Kent State, Maryland, Massachusetts, Ole Miss, Pittsburgh, Syracuse, Temple and Vanderbilt.
