Juli Boeheim still shaken up after armed robbery

Juli Boeheim — the wife of legendary Syracuse coach Jim Boeheim — is still grasping being robbed at gunpoint on Tuesday. According to the Syracuse coach, his wife is still “shook up” following the unfortunate incident.

“She’s definitely shook up,” Jim Boeheim said, via Syracuse commentator Brent Axe’s radio show on ESPN on Wednesday. “I mean, this isn’t television. It’s not movies. It’s real life.”

It isn’t hard to see why someone would be affected by the situation for days afterwards. Still, Jim Boeheim believes his wife has shown her strength through her response.

“She’s a little shook,” Jim Boeheim stated. “But I think she’s doing much better than could be expected.”

According to a report form Syracuse.com’s Chris Libonati, Juli Boeheim was robbed at gunpoint in a Destiny USA parking lot. Syracuse police said that Juli Boeheim was sitting in her car near the Cheesecake Factory, when a young person approached her car and began speaking with her. The person then pulled out and pointed a gun at Boeheim, only to reach into her car and steal her purse, according to police.

Luckily, Juli Boeheim was unharmed during the robbery. While many would be focused on their own well-being, Jim Boeheim stated his wife is actually more concerned about the future of the person who robbed her.

“Her main thought was, ‘Let’s help this kid,’” the Syracuse coach said. “That’s what she does and what we do with our foundation is try to help these kids.”

“That was the first thing that she said, ‘I feel like I want to get this kid, and help this kid.’ But that’s the way she thinks. That’s who she is. She tries to help people. That’s what she does.”

No further description was provided other than the person being in their youth. According to the police news release, the person drove away with two others after stealing the purse. The car they drove away in had also been reported as stolen, per Onondaga County Police.
