In the later part of this summer, USC was the major favorite to land four-star Red Oak (Texas) safety Warren Roberson.

The Trojans got him on campus in June for an official visit, and the momentum started turning their direction from there. Warren even teased a late-August commitment, with USC expected to be the destination. But over the course of the past few months, things have shifted in his recruitment. And now with an expert pick in from WeAreSC’s Scott Schrader in favor of TCU, it’s the Horned Frogs who hold a commanding lead in the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM).

It gives TCU a 96.0 percent chance of securing Roberson’s commitment, with USC and SMU trailing far behind.

Roberson is the No. 262 overall prospect in the 2023 class, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He ranks as the nation’s No. 20 safety and the No. 47 senior recruit in the state of Texas.

On3 is drastically higher on him than any other recruiting service though, according to the Industry Comparison. In the most recent On300 rankings, he was tabbed as the country’s No. 76 overall recruit, No. 8 safety and No. 16 player in the Lone Star State.

Warren Roberson Scouting Summary

“One of the most college-ready physiques in the entire country that can go up and get it on offense or defense. Two-way player at receiver and safety. During his junior season he tallied 4 interceptions and 6 passes defended on the defensive side of the ball. Caught 41 passes for 688 yards and 6 touchdowns on offense. Tremendous play speed and twitch. Ran a 11.00 second 100 meter time during his sophomore track season. Physical player that has a tendency to strike ball carriers than wrap up. Has the physical tools and build to bang in the box or play in space. Slight hip stiffness is a bit concerning. Twitch and ability to make plays on the ball project to keep him in the rotation for any Power 5 team in the country.” — Charles Power, On3 Director of Scouting and Rankings
