Texas A&M freshman offensive lineman PJ Williams has been arrested for marijuana possession, according to a College Station police report. 7.7 ounces were found in a backpack with Williams’ name on it, being a felony-level charge.

“The marijuana was in a backpack with a Texas A&M football nametag on it — ’52 PJ Williams Jr’ — according to the report that also stated the marijuana was in ‘three gallon-sized plastic zip-lock style bags,'” Brent Zwerneman of The Houston Chronicle said via Twitter.

The arrest was made on Saturday, the same day Texas A&M was facing off against UMass in a home matchup. However, Williams has not been with the team for some time, as head coach Jimbo Fisher continues to suspend the offensive lineman and three of his classmates.

Only one appearance has been made by Williams this season, playing in the season opener against Sam Houston State. The previously mentioned suspension has been intact since an incident took place following Oct. 22’s loss against South Carolina.

Now, the problems continue to pile on for the offensive lineman.

Williams was a member of the Aggies’ historic 2022 recruiting class Fisher put together, being one of many ranked inside the top 100. The On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting services, had him at No. 67 overall and No. 12 inside the state of Texas.

Jimbo Fisher provides update on status of PJ Williams, Denver Harris

In late October, four Texas A&M players were suspended indefinitely by head coach Jimbo Fisher. Defensive back Denver Harris and offensive lineman PJ Williams were among the players suspended, according to TexAgs’ Billy Liucci. They were significant parts of the Aggies’ highly-touted recruiting class, which ranked No. 1 in the On3 Consensus Team Recruiting Ranking.

The reason for their suspension is still unclear, but do they have a chance at playing in the Aggies’ season finale on Saturday against LSU? According to Fisher, it’s out of his control at this time whether that happens or not.

“That’s all with the university and the judicial system and everything that goes on,” said Fisher when asked about the status of Williams and Harris. “Nothing has changed in that regard.”
