Jimbo Fisher has not been able to figure out the quarterback position yet this season. After naming Haynes King the starter to begin the year before moving on to Max Johnson. An injury to the LSU transfer caused a switch back to King during the Mississippi State game. Neither has been particularly inspiring, although Johnson did give you more confidence.

Throughout all of this, true freshman Conner Weigman has been looking from the outside in. Fisher has flirted with the idea of Weigman playing for Texas A&M but to this point, he has not seen the field. When once again asked if there would be an opportunity, Fisher said “I don’t know.”

“We’ll wait and see,” Fisher said. “He’s been practicing well and Haynes has been practicing well. So, we’ll go.”

Weigman was ranked a five-star prospect by the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting services. He was the fourth-ranked quarterback in the 2022 class and No. 29 on the national scale.

Fisher did later confirm King would be available vs. South Carolina, dealing with an injury himself. As to whether or not Weigman will get playing time, we will have to wait and see. If there is any kind of change from Fisher, it will be an awaited debut from the Aggie faithful.

Jimbo Fisher says bye week refreshed Texas A&M

Fisher says the bye week refreshed Texas A&M, clearing the mind of the grind that is a college football season. A “second season” may be ahead of them with a fresh six games on the schedule. The Aggies were able to “take a deep breath” and prepare for what should be five more tough SEC games.

“Anytime you come off an off week, you get to refresh your buttons,” Fisher said. “You get to fuel up, you get to get your mind cleared where it’s just not that continuous week in, week out. You take a deep breath and then you come back. Anytime that off week comes, it feels like it is the second season.

“It’s a new season to a point and how you go about it. But it’s always been that way, at least for me when you have off weeks during the season. Whether it’s eight weeks in, six weeks in, 10 weeks in.”
