Jimbo Fisher has had quarterback issues at Texas A&M this season. Between Haynes King and Max Johnson, he has been unable to find someone who can consistently run his intricate offense. Now, after benching King for Johnson, he needs to return to King as Johnson is out with an injury.

In Texas A&M’s loss to Mississippi State, those quarterback issues became impossible to ignore. Johnson played alright before his injury. However, in relief for Johnson, King struggled once again, completing less than 50% of his passes and throwing multiple interceptions.

“Then we threw it coming down, and they were dropping eight guys and they were dropping it back like they did, kept down, kept hitting the check-downs and scrambling making yards,” Jimbo Fisher said.

“Then we got [the] second half. We go things going. They kept bringing pressure and we were getting the ball down the field.”

At the time, Jimbo Fisher didn’t have an update on Max Johnson. However, he largely seemed happy with the way the team was able to move the ball, especially on the ground. Fisher did criticize his team for the turnovers they committed throughout the game, though.

Max Johnson has a broken hand

Max Johnson went out with an injury against Mississippi State. As it turns out, he has a broken bone in his hand and will be out for the season or, at least, the foreseeable future.

In his absence, Haynes King will once again take over as the starting quarterback. On the season, King has 510 yards passing, three touchdowns, and four interceptions.
