Jimbo Fisher is in his fourth season as the head coach at Texas A&M. The Aggies are 5-2 this season and are 31-12 in Fisher’s tenure. Texas A&M has showed that it can win games, but Fisher wants to see the Aggies become a national power in recruiting.

Fisher wants to see Texas A&M not only see success in the recruiting trail in Texas, but across the entire nation.

“We’ve got great recruits out here in Texas,” Fisher said. “We’re recruiting the heck out of them. But listen, you’ve got to brand yourself nationally now. You gotta be able to go across this country and people say, ‘You know what, Texas A&M is the place I want to come to’ if I’m in Florida, if I’m in Georgia, if I’m in California, if I’m in Ohio, if I’m in Michigan, or I’m in Arizona or I’m wherever. And I think that’s starting to happen.”

Fisher: Texas A&M ‘can be a destination’ in recruiting

When Fisher was at Florida State, he showed that he can grab national recruits from all over. Now, Fisher wants to see Texas A&M see similar success while recruiting players across the country.

“I think we’re getting a national brand along with having a tremendous home base in recruiting,” Fisher said. “You can go get difference makers like we did at Florida State with Jalen Ramsey, Jameis Winston, going to get EJ [Manuel] in Virginia. Getting all those types of guys. There’s always guys out there that are great players that you got to be able to go get.

“Certain programs can do that and I think we’re starting to be able to do that with building the whole entire program. Not just about the wins and losses now, but the future of it. How it’s being perceived. This can be a destination that a lot of folks want to come to and play. And I think we’re definitely getting there.”

Texas A&M is currently 5-2 this season with a 2-2 record against SEC opponents. The Aggies took down Alabama a couple of weeks ago. Fisher has led Texas A&M to three consecutive bowl wins, and he hopes that can aid his efforts on the recruiting trail.
