According to Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports, the Boise State Broncos and Texas A&M Aggies will face off in a nonconference matchup this season. The game will be at a neutral site venue, with Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, Texas playing host to the two basketball programs.

An exact date for the game has not been set as of yet but per Rothstein, “early December” is the current timeline. Boise State and Texas A&M have never met one another on the basketball court, meaning a new series will tip off later in the year.

The Broncos were an NCAA Tournament team last year, dropping a game to Memphis in the Round of 64. As for head coach Buzz Williams, his squad was considered a snub from the big dance after making a run in the SEC Tournament. Texas A&M instead went on to play in the NIT Championship and gain a ton of momentum for the 2022-2023 season.

Texas A&M has been fully piecing together its nonconference schedule, with Boise State being just the latest addition. A home and home series was recently scheduled a home and home series with DePaul. The first matchup will take place in Chicago, with a return expected next year to College Station.

Playing in the Big 12/SEC Challenge is usually a free quality matchup for teams in the conference but for the Aggies, they will not be participating in the event. Due to finishing in the bottom four of last season’s SEC standings, Texas A&M will be on the outside looking in.

Instead, they will play one of GeorgiaSouth Carolina, or Vanderbilt that weekend.

Getting quality games before the start of SEC play will be important for Williams and his squad. Getting as many wins against solid opponents could help Texas A&M avoid being on the bubble come the beginning of March.
