Texas A&M made waves in the 2022 recruiting cycle, compiling a group that may go down in the history books as one of the best recruiting classes of all-time.

But its work in the 2023 cycle has been much more subdued so far. Entering Sautrday, they had only six commits — tied with Ole Miss for least among teams in the top 50 of the 2023 On3 Consensus Team Recruiting Ranking.

The Aggies landed a major target Saturday, however, in Denton (Texas) Ryan five-star linebacker Anthony Hill that saw Texas A&M jump from No. 35 to No. 22 in the rankings.

The 2023 Aggies recruiting class now has seven commits — one five-star, five four-stars and one three-star. The average rating of their commits also ranks fourth in the country, behind only the top three recruiting classes in the country.

Hill is the No. 15 overall recruit and No. 1 linebacker in the 2023 cycle, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

“The bond I had with the staff and the atmosphere of the town,” Hill told On3’s Hayes Fawcett for why he chose Texas A&M. “I am close with coach Santucci, he has been recruiting me non stop since I was a freshman.”

Hill is the second linebacker commit in the Aggies class alongside Katy (Texas) Paetow four-star linebacker Daymion Sanford.

He is also their fourth recruit ranked inside the top 100 of the On3 Consensus with La Grange (Texas) four-star cornerback Bravion Rogers, Dallas South Oak Cliff four-star cornerback Jayvon Thomas and Ramsey (N.J.) Don Bosco Prep four-star interior offensive lineman Chase Bisontis.

Texas A&M also has commitments from Spring Branch (Texas) Smithson Valley four-star interior offensive lineman Colton Thomasson and Southlake (Texas) Carroll Senior three-star punter Tyler White.
