Texas A&M has reportedly been hit with a massive outbreak of the flu and it appears to be impacting the quarterback position. Reporters in College Station this morning have stated that Haynes King is taking first-team reps, while Conner Weigman is not on the field during warm-ups.

Weigman was reported early on to be questionable for the game due to the outbreak of the flu. This comes one week after a very impressive outing for the young signal-caller, as he threw for 338 yards and four touchdowns in a narrow loss to Ole Miss. Weigman was not expected to play as much entering the season but the recent struggles have resulted in the Aggies looking for any changes they can make.

The Aggies looked like they were in for a solid season early on. Wins over then-No. 13 Miami and No. 10 Arkansas helped Texas A&M sit at 3-1 through the first four games. But times have suddenly gotten hard for the Aggies. Texas A&M has lost four straight games, including losses against unranked Mississippi State and South Carolina.

Texas A&M enters the weekend sitting at 3-5 overall and 1-4 in SEC play. Things are not at all going according to plan for the Aggies but Fisher does not think that the team is starting to give up on the season. Fisher in fact believes that Texas A&M’s locker room is strong as ever.

“Honestly, I don’t. I don’t mean that in a — I’m not saying it just to say it,” Fisher said at a news conference. You see them in that locker room and you see them together. They’ll tell you, ‘We’re going to figure this out, we’re going to fight.’ We’ve got to help them find one more play and they’ve got to help us find one more play to get over the hump. The disappointment is there but I’m going to tell you, it’s — we just had those talks. Those kids come up and talk to me all the time. They’re very dedicated to each other and love each other. I really believe that.”

The Aggies and Gators are slated for a noon ET kick. The game can be seen on ESPN.
