Texas A&M tight end Jalen Wydermyer had gotten off to a bit of a slow start to the 2021 season. So far tonight, he’s making sure he won’t be hearing any of that anymore.

Watch as he catches the football around the 36-yard line and turns on the burners to the end zone for the 28-yard touchdown catch from quarterback Zach Calzada.

The touchdown score put the Aggies up 21-0 with 10:36 remaining in the second quarter.

He does a nice job of eluding the defender at the eight yard line and utilizing his blockers downfield. That kind of playmaking ability is precisely what has him on NFL scouts’ radars for the 2022 NFL Draft.

That’s not his only touchdown catch he’s had tonight. Watch below has he catches a 25-yard touchdown pass across the middle from Zach Calzada. The man cannot be stopped.

He bobbled the catch above a bit before bringing it in and making his way to the end zone, but the touchdown put the Aggies up 14-0 with 57 seconds remaining in the first quarter.

Wydermyer continues to etch his name in Aggie football history

His 25-yard touchdown catch above pushed his career receiving yardage total to 1,256 (and counting). He passed Martellus Bennett (2005-2007) with the most receiving yards by a tight end in Aggie history.

Check out the graphic below.

He’s already the top ranked tight end in Aggie football history in touchdown catches, and after tonight, he’s tops in receiving yards, too. Simply put, he’s plastered his name all over the record books in College Station.

Games like this are exactly the kind of games people expected of the talented tight end coming into the 2021 campaign.

He had two touchdowns total coming into the South Carolina game and he’s already doubled that production in the first half against the Gamecocks.

In the first half alone, he’s already hauled in three catches for 60 receiving yards and two touchdowns (both are above).

Texas A&M is dominating South Carolina and they lead the game 31-0 at the half.
