Dallas South Oak Cliff four-star cornerback Jayvon Thomas is one of Texas A&M‘s top defensive prospects. However, Thomas showed Friday that he can also play offense.

In a 33-27 playoff win over Midlothian (Texas) Midlothian Heritage, Thomas took a handoff deep in South Oak Cliff’s red zone. He quickly got past multiple defenders en route to a 97-yard touchdown.

Thomas is the No. 84 overall prospect and No. 8 cornerback in the 2023 cycle, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 16 player in Texas.

The 5-foot-11, 170-pound prospect is the fifth-highest-rated prospect in the Aggies’ 2023 recruiting class, behind recruits including Katy (Texas) Paetow Five-Star Plus+ defensive lineman David Hicks and La Grange (Texas) four-star cornerback Bravion Rogers. Texas A&M’s group currently ranks No. 17 in the 2023 On3 Consensus Team Recruiting Rankings and No. 7 in the SEC.

Thomas has an On3 NIL Valuation of $141K. The On3 NIL Valuation is an index that looks to set the standard market value for both high school and college-level athletes. The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.
