4-star safety Larry Turner-Gooden commits to Texas

SAN ANTONIO, Texas – Four-star safety Larry Turner-Gooden of Playa Del Rey (Calif.) Bishop Alemany announced his commitment to Texas on Saturday during the All-American Bowl.

The 6-foot, 179-pound four-star prospect picked the Longhorns over Penn State, Maryland, Colorado, USC and Arizona State.

Larry Turner-Gooden was committed to Arizona State at one point in the process, but he backed away from the pledge to look at other programs around three months ago. After the move, he took official visits to Penn State, Texas, Arizona State, Colorado and Maryland.

Turner-Gooden is ranked as the No. 245 player in the country, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

The On3 Consensus also ranks Turner-Gooden as the No. 21 safety and the 20th-best player in California. On3 ranks him similarly. He is ranked per On3 as the No. 39 safety and No. 30 player in the Golden State.

He is the 28th commitment in the 2022 class for the Longhorns, who currently have the No. 5 class in the On3 Consensus Team Recruiting Rankings.
