Carthage (Texas) four-star wide receiver Aeryn Hampton was backed off his commitment to Texas last November after pledging to the Longhorns in February 2022.

But despite his choice to leave Texas’ class, they haven’t given up recruiting him, and will get him back on campus in Austin next weekend.

Hampton tweeted on Friday that he will return to the Forty Acres on March 25 for an unofficial visit.

The 5-foot-11, 185-pounder has visited the Longhorns more than half a dozen times already, and late last month he tweeted that he will take an official visit there in June.

In early February, Hampton announced his top seven schools, a list that included Alabama, LSU, Oklahoma, Texas, Oregon, Michigan, and Nebraska.

He visited the Tigers earlier this month, a visit he said pushed them to the ‘top of his list.’

“This was a great visit,” Hampton told On3’s Chad Simmons. “This was the best visit I have ever taken. The vibe really stood out. I was there for the spring game a year ago and I wasn’t really looking too hard. This time, the vibe was right. And it put LSU on top of my list.”

He is also expected to visit Alabama early next week before he heads to Austin. He visited the Crimson Tide in January, a trip that he said really opened his eyes about the SEC program.

“Bama is live,” Hampton told BamaInsider. “I mess with Bama. Just the development and culture they have. All the facilities and the coaches… I was just seeing what a day in the life at Bama is like.”

Aeryn Hampton had a monster junior year

Hampton finished his junior season with 55 receptions for 1,161 yards and 13 touchdowns. He also racked up 57 tackles, five tackles for loss, three interceptions, three fumble recoveries and two forced fumbles.

He also excelled on special teams with 11 returns for 260 yards and a score. Those numbers helped him earn second-team all-state honors at Daingerfield (Texas) in 2022.

Hampton is the No. 94 overall prospect in the 2024 class, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He ranks as the nation’s No. 16 wide receiver and the No. 19 recruit in Texas.

He has an On3 NIL Valuation of $123K. The On3 NIL Valuation is the industry’s leading index that sets high school and college athletes’ projected annual value (PAV). The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.
